About Minister Ricky Waller
Minister Ricky Waller currently resides in Nashville Tennessee. He is the current minister for Lighthouse Mission, and an Associate Minister at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.
Ricky, or "Fat Ricky" as he was most commonly known by many, spent his childhood growing up in the Preston Taylor Homes "Housing Projects" of West Nashville. Blessed with the athletic abilities and talent customary to many of the young "black" teenagers of today, he excelled in several different sports as a member of the Preston Taylor Community Center and Cohn High Basketball Team. Unfortunately, like so many of the young teenagers today his interest in sports was distracted by "false" promises of street life. Ricky continued to participate in both; however, the dominance and gratification he acquired from "street life" eventually distracted any goals or promises for future success in sports.
The recognition and reputation Ricky acquired in the streets evolved into the materialistic possessions acquired by excelling in "street life". These possessions included all of the "glamorous" assets of cars, women, guns and an abundance of money. As Ricky's present life moved quickly into the future, he eventually experienced the more realistic, "non-glamorous" side of "street life", becoming a victim of the drugs he was selling, dodging the law, and dealing with unwarranted deaths of individuals close to him. Ricky had not only contributed to the destruction of innocent lives within the community, but his own life as well.
After several years of self destruction, Waller surrendered, seeking strength from the Lord. He made the decision to trust and have faith in the encouraging words that had been implanted within his mind and soul by the late Pastor Cooke that "God is Able". He overcame his drug addiction and made a commitment to live a changed lifestyle; to reach back into the communities to postively influence those living the lifestyle he had turned from.
Today, Ricky Waller is more respectfully known as Minister Ricky Waller. He is genuinely commited to the order that God has set forth for his life. It is an unselfish commitment reserved not only for his own salvation, but for the salvation of any individual entangled by the strong holds of life.
